Finding a half decent chippy in London can be hard. Add in wanting a reasonable price and your options drop down considerably. I don't know about you but a kebab shop claiming to serve 'traditionally fish and chips' really isn't for me. Luckily I stumbled upon the delightful Sutton & Sons whilst researching London's next places to eat.
Using fresh fish from their family fishmongers across the road, Sutton & Sons serves up genuinely traditional fish and chips at a great price - well worth the walk to Stoke Newington.

Highlights:
Sutton & Sons, Stoke Newington
When:
Saturday afternoon
What we ate:
Monkfish and chips, Scampi and chips, Calamari rings, Bread and butter

Highlights:
- Service is incredibly friendly and welcoming
- The restaurants interior is well consider with nautical references wooden tables, copper pipes an a large fresh fish counter
- Batter is light and super crispy on both the monkfish and scampi
- Monkfish is soft yet meaty and I like that it has been cut into manageable chunks
- The scampi were salty and sweet with a perfect breaded coating

- The chips were LUSH! Proper chip shop chips; thick and chunky with plenty of salt and vinegar, plus a few cheeky crispy ones chucked in for good measure
- The calamari was well cooked and not at all chewy
- Prosecco is served in individual bottles which is quite fun, with a brilliant sparkle and fresh flavour
- Unsure the salad was needed on all the plates
- Our starters were initially forgotten then arrived half way through our mains
- Service was a little bit slow at times

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Sutton & Sons. As I said above, finding a good chippy in London can be hard but Sutton & Sons certainly fits the bill. Please do go visit!
