A little news....

If you've been wondering where I have been for the last week then you probably don't follow me on Twitter or Instagram - hint, go do it now!! This also means you won't have seen my news, so here it is....

I'M ENGAGED!!
Alex proposed while we were on holiday in Budapest and I truly couldn't be happier. We are spending a little private time together to celebrate this engagement, hence I have been out of the social/blogosphere. I have more reviews coming next week but until then I would love your opinions. I am planning on setting up a wedding blog (like every other bride!), to share the journey of becoming a wife, planning a wedding and, really, growing up. So! I want to know what you want the blog to be called. I'm pretty set on The Young Domestic Goddess Gets Married, but I would love to hear what you think. Please share in the comments below, on Twitter or Instagram.

Lots of love,

Ellie x

REVIEW: Bunnychow and Bubbleology - A Double Whammy

I hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday if you're based in the UK. I spent mine at my cousin's wedding, walking my dog, Gloria, and hanging out with my in-laws - seriously my baby nephew is getting SO BIG! But before all this fun family time, Alex and I had to get the dreaded train home from London. I shouldn't complain; it's only 45 minutes but the trains are rubbish, there's no view (it was dark) and is generally a boring journey. However, for this trip things were a little different. We kissed goodbye to our Boots meal deal dinner and said a great big HELLO to delicious bunnies from Bunnychow and fabulous bubble tea from Bubbleology.

Today's review is a double whammy of naughty food yumminess. There's nothing better than bread filled with stuff, and Bunnychow is an expert at this. A bunny is effectively a pie-shaped loaf of bread (about the size of your hand) packed filled with a filling of your choice. Fillings include a mutton curry and pulled pork, with various toppings such as pickles, slaw and nachos to go on top. The lid of the loaf is then closed and you have a complete meal in one.

Bunnychow comes to Soho via Africa and is a real winner when it comes to quick, delicious and 'real' food. Yes McDonalds has the edge on speed but think what crap is in there. The breads and fillings are all made by the in house chefs and prepared upon order. I went for the pulled pork whole  meal bunny with slaw on the top whilst Alex went for the mutton curry with slaw inside a white bunny. Both were absolutely BURSTING with delicious flavours and the meats had maintained a soft, fresh texture. I found the slaw a great cold contrast to the warming pulled pork, and I loved the soggy bread inside that had soaked up the sauce.
As for the bubble tea, now... I'm under no illusions that this isn't a sugar filled chemical mess BUT everyone deserves a treat. I headed to the Notting Hill brand before Carnival kicked off to grab myself some bubble tea. Each tea is made upon order by the in house baristas and you can add any flavours, bubbles, boba and even jellies you feel like.

I opted for the chocolate milk tea with orange bursting boba which was really really delicious. It didn't have the same thickness an sumptuousness as my chocolate milk tea from Chatime, but I really liked the orange and chocolate combination. Alex went for the classic Hong Kong milk tea (no changes there!), which was a touch too sweet but nonetheless tasty. We also opted to share the matcha milk tea which was much too sweet and the honeydew milk tea upon recommendation which sadly I really didn't like! The above all said Bubbletea definitely is a great place to visit with it's fun interiors, flavour mixes and lovely staff.

Let me know if you visit Bunnychow or Bubbleology in the comments below!

Both of these meals were paid for by the restaurants.

REVIEW: Senor Ceviche, Kingly Court

SeƱor Ceviche in Kingly Court has quickly become the home of Peruvian food in London. At their cosy 80 seater restaurant in the heart of Carnaby, Senor Ceviche serves up zingy ceviches, vibrant super salads and smoky barbecued meats, all designed to share with the rest of your table.

Though not a cuisine I have eaten much of on my blogger travels, I was super excited to visit Senor Ceviche. Many of my co-bloggers and journalists across London absolutely rave about its incredible food, fun drinks and even better service. Today I share my ten pence in the review pool. Enjoy!

Where
Senor Ceviche, Kingly Court
When
Monday night, from 7:30pm
What we ate (items in italics were not ordered but were brought to the table)
  • Para Picar (Small plates): Chifa Chicharonnes (pork belly in sweet soy), Jalea Mixto (tempura seafood)
  • Ceviche & Tiradito: Mr Miyagi (salmon with pomegranate), The Spaniard (sea bream, king prawn and chirizo)
  • Peruvian Barbecue: Anticucho de Pollo (grilled chicken skewers), Anticucho de Res (grilled beef heart), Flat Iron Y Chimmichurri (flat iron steak)
  • Sides: Frijoles Negros (black beans - this dish did not arrive), Quinoa Soltero (quinoa salad)
What we drank
  • 2 glasses of Merlot
  • Pisco Sour cocktail
  • Mancora Surfclub cocktail
Highlights
  • Service was absolutely brilliant friendly and engaging. However towards the end our waitress brought dishes and drinks we did not order, which became quite uncomfortable.
  • Pork belly starter was pretty epic though the flavour could have been much deeper. I wasn't much of a fan of the creamy rocotto mayo sauce as the texture didn't sit right with me but Alex loved it! Sweet soy sauce was lovely and indulgent
  • Seafood tempura was really well salted and the different fish perfectly cooked and jut chewy. Mayo was not too hot
  • Absolutely amazing texture and explosive flavour for the Spanish inspired sea bream, king prawn and chorizo ceviche - this was our favourite dish
  • Great mix of textures and flavours with the salmon ceviche - quite sweet which was surprisingly appealing
  • Flat iron steak was cooked well and the chimichurri brings texture as well as flavour

Lowlights

  • I personally could not taste the chilli with the steak which was sad
  • I didn't like the quinoa salad which was a real shock for me. The texture and the flavour just didn't appeal to me, and considering I didn't order this dish I was particularly unhappy
  • Chicken skewers were a tiny bit pink which was disappointing. I sent this back to the kitchen, and found the second dish to be quite pink too.

Overall
Yes I would go back to Senor Ceviche , pretty much in a heart beat. The food generally was very good and the prices for the area are quite affordable. I think if I had not been visiting as a blogger for review then I would have gained the same level of service - just minus the extra dishes!

This meal was paid for.
